Biografia

Ha cominciato a recitare all'età di trentaquattro anni e ha recitato in oltre trenta film, tra cui Ritorno a Cold Mountain (Cold Mountain), 28 giorni dopo (28 Days Later...), Troy, Le crociate - Kingdom of Heaven, The Village e Braveheart.
Appare frequentemente nel ruolo del mentore o della figura autoritaria; ha interpretato Alastor Moody nella saga di Harry Potter, nei film Harry Potter e il calice di fuoco, Harry Potter e l'Ordine della Fenice e Harry Potter e i Doni della Morte - Parte 1.

Vita privata
